As part of his plans for the business, Jamie knew he needed to be spending less time on day-to-day operations and more time on strategic development.
But how to get to that point?
Working in partnership with Jayne Chadwick at People Puzzles, Jamie created a plan – to build a strong senior management team and re-energise the company’s values so that his business could flourish.
It was such an effective project that Today Team smashed its end of year targets and Jamie got exactly what he needed – time and mental space to drive the business forward with dynamism.
Satisfyingly, it was also recognised by the CIPD People Management Awards, who gave People Puzzles and Today Team its “Best SME People Management Initiative.”
Recent blogs have celebrated the impact of apprentice Jack Sherwood, who’s cracking on with his new Traffic Office apprenticeship and bringing valuable new skills to the business. But in other news, Ryan O’Leary, Logistics Co-ordinator, is working towards his Level 3 Team Leader qualification and Dawn Bostock, Business and Finance Manager, has completed a Level 5 CIPD award in Human Resource Management – lifelong learning is clearly thriving in Today Team’s bespoke training facility over in Warrington.
Of course, Jamie practises what he preaches – he’s a member of Vistage, a group designed to help leaders share and develop their skills, as well as having just completed a tour of duty at the UK’s 12th best BNI chapter in Manchester.
“The numbers are going all the right way,” says Jamie.
And Jayne would say that’s no accident: “Growing talent and having a strong vision and values aren’t just nice things to do – there’s a clear correlation with successful finances.”
Recognition is a key part of developing human beings within any organisation.
