Today Team Renews Crosfields ARLFC Sponsorship
We’re delighted to announce the renewal of Today Team as principal shirt sponsor of Crosfields ARLFC first team kit for the 2025 National Conference League, Division 1 season, which started on Saturday 15th March.
Today Team’s Managing Director Jamie Boyd was a proud onlooker as the new kit made its first outing, and he’s pictured above (centre) alongside Club Secretary, Tony Parker (left) and Chairman, Mike Donnison (right).
Rugby League and the story of Today Team have been closely intertwined since the start, with Jamie playing for Crosfields and professionally for Warrington Wolves before injury curtailed his career.
“It’s a great source of pride for me to able to continue to support a club that’s close to my heart in this way. Having played at Crosfields since my teenage years, I owe the club and the community around it a lot. As a teenager, growing up in the area, the support I had is ultimately what helped me to go on to play professionally.
I was playing at Crosfields at the time I signed for Warrington Wolves, and then once I was playing there, I went back to the club to coach a junior side.
While my playing days are over and I don’t have time to coach at the moment due to how busy I am with the business, it’s great to still be involved and help out with the club in this way, just like many other ex-players who’ve gone on to run their own businesses locally.”
Community support essential to one of the country’s leading amateur clubs
As a club, Crosfields ARLFC has a rich history, with evidence showing rugby was played there during the 1901-1902 season in inter-works competitions. Formed by the workers from Joseph Crosfield and Son’s, it has developed into one of the leading amateur clubs in the country, and will soon celebrate its 125th anniversary.
Mike Donnison explains how important the support from businesses like Today Team and ex-players such as Jamie is to the club:
“Myself and everyone involved with the club is really happy Today Team has renewed its sponsorship of our first team kit, and we greatly appreciate the support from Jamie and other ex-players who have continued to stay involved with the club, both financially and in other ways.
We’re an amateur club, so the support of the local business community is essential for us to continue maintaining our facilities and it keeps the club ticking over day-to-day.
Along with the help of the community and many other people, it allows us to continue the running of every side at the club, from the open age first team through to the junior age categories, which includes the Cubs who are aged 4-6, under-7s, all the way up to under-18s and even our Masters, which is open to those aged 35+”
Crosfields finished in 6th place in Division One during the 2024 season, eventually losing out in the playoffs to Ince Rose Bridge. They started the 2025 season with a loss to the same opponents, but will be hoping to make a push for the playoffs once again this year.
Jamie continues;
“Like many ex-players, I’m still a fan of the club and follow their results closely. It was a tough start to the season against a strong side, but I’m sure the lads will be looking to push for a playoff spot again this year.
On behalf of Today Team, I’d like to wish all of the teams at Crosfields the best of luck for their upcoming campaigns.”
