Down and Out with the Today Team! Third time lucky?

Two dates, two cancellations due to poor weather! Spare a thought for the Today Team: after weather warnings were issued for the event originally scheduled for August, they were hoping to test their limits with a sponsored skydive for real this time, but alas, the bad weather struck again.

Team members Jamie Boyd, Dawn Bostock, Ryan O’Leary, and Jack Sherwood have decided to “feel the fear and do it anyway” – it’s only 10,000 feet, after all…

After an hour or so’s drive over to picturesque Shropshire, everyone will have a couple of hours’ basic training with their own instructor as sky diving is a first for everybody. Then it’s time to suit up and get ready for the drop – a steepish one, it has to be said, with an average freefall speed of 120mph. When the weather is finally good enough that is!

Boss-man Jamie was really keen to do the jump on October 5th as trying to stay slim enough for the plane’s strict weight limit is apparently playing havoc with his social life! You’ll have to stay on that diet now JB!

Traffic Controller, Ryan O’Leary is also really excited about the prospect of leaping out of a plane. “Skydiving is something I’ve always wanted to do. It’s been on my bucket list for a long time so I’m looking forward to it. And it’s for a fantastic cause.”

The Warrington Disability Partnership, the charity Today Team’s supporting through this venture, has over 26 years’ experience of developing and delivering mobility and independent living services in the North West and beyond.

Dave Thompson, the charity’s CEO, had this to say: “We always appreciate local businesses getting behind our charity and after Today Team have hosted two fundraising firewalks for WDP, it’s great to see them taking on another challenge this year with a parachute jump. Great work, Jamie and team!”
