Today Team sponsors Crosfields ARLFC's first team kit

Former Crosfields ARLFC player turned Today Team boss Jamie Boyd is principal sponsor of the club’s first team kit for the 2018 campaign.

The Soap are now fourth in the table – having celebrated four consecutive league wins.

Jamie graduated from Crosfields to Warrington Wolves before suffering a career-ending knee injury aged just 24. With a small loan from the Prince’s Trust, he went on to establish a successful same day courier business in Risley, which continues to serve the North West.

“We were delighted that Jamie kindly agreed to support Crosfields ARLFC for the next two seasons,” says Tony Parker, Club Secretary at Crosfields.

“Today Team’s sponsorship money will go towards much-needed improvements to our facilities, as well as the general running of a team in the National Conference League. We are anticipating great things from our players, as they are a talented bunch.”

Crosfields are always excited to welcome back ex-Wolves players returning to their roots to continue their professional development. Jack Roper, aged 19, and Kain Ditchfield, aged 23, have made their first-team debuts for the Soap, while Jordan Williams, aged 19, has returned for what will be his second season at the club.

“I’m delighted that Today Team are once again backing the largest amateur rugby league club in the country,” says Jamie.

“It’s great that I can help out after so many people at the club did so much for me growing up there. Like every Crosfields fan, I follow their fortunes very closely. We’ve got the playoffs in our sights for the second year running, but whatever happens, I know the lads will give it everything they’ve got.

‘On behalf of Today Team, I’d like to wish all of Crosfields’ participants in every age group the very best with their respective campaigns.”

New coach Jimmy Williams, who started his playing career at Crosfields, has also returned with big ideas.

“Jimmy was a creative player and remains very passionate about the team to this day,” adds Tony. “We’re very excited to see what he has to offer. The support of our fans is always appreciated, so please do come down and watch our matches; you can look forward to good, open and fast rugby – particularly in the summer months.”

Crosfields has, so far, secured 10 league points and are closing in on table-toppers Stanningley, who have six points in hand.

The next outing is away to Drighlington on Saturday, 2 June.
