Today Team Welcomes Kristy Heywood as Client Relations Manager

Everyone at Today Team is delighted to welcome Kristy Heywood, who has joined the business as Client Relations Manager.
Kristy is now three months into her new role, having spent the first part of her time at our Warrington HQ getting to know the team, learning our systems, and understanding the detail that goes into providing reliable time critical logistics for customers across a wide range of sectors.
With a background in sales, business development and account management, Kristy brings valuable experience in building relationships, supporting customers and improving the overall client experience.
Her role at Today Team will see her working closely with both the sales and logistics teams, helping us to look after existing customers, develop stronger relationships, gather feedback, and support clients with more complex or specific requirements.
For our customers, this is all about making sure Today Team continues to be a logistics partner that understands their business, not just a courier they call when something needs moving.
From moving people to moving goods
Kristy’s customer relations experience comes from the private and semi-private aviation sector, where she worked as a team lead supporting demanding clients with high expectations, detailed requirements and time-sensitive needs.
As she explains:
“Although moving people and moving goods are different disciplines, the same principles apply: clear communication, quick decisions, attention to detail, and giving customers confidence that everything is being handled properly.
That’s something I’ve already seen at Today Team. When a customer has an urgent high stakes delivery, they need to know that the people handling it understand the pressure, and the importance of the details.”
In her previous role, Kristy was also a key point of escalation for problem solving and customer satisfaction, supporting high-profile clients and high net worth individuals where confidentiality, discretion and service quality were essential.
These are skills that transfer well into time critical logistics, where many jobs involve urgent, sensitive, high-value or business-critical consignments.
Kristy adds:
“A big part of customer service is not waiting for a problem before you speak to someone. It’s about building trust, understanding what matters to each customer, and making sure the service is shaped around that.
That’s what I’m looking forward to doing here. Today Team already has strong customer relationships, so my role is to help build on that, ask the right questions, and make sure our customers feel properly supported.”
Hands-on with logistics and operations
Since joining Today Team, Kristy has been busy learning the day-to-day systems and processes behind our services, including Journease GO and HubSpot, as well as the operational details that matter when booking vehicles, checking weights, understanding requirements and keeping customers updated.
She has also spent time learning the logistics role hands-on, which is an important part of how the team works at Today Team.
With a fast-moving operation, it is essential that team members understand different roles and can step in when required. For Kristy, this has also provided valuable insight into the importance of live job communication, driver coordination, accurate information and speed of response.
Kristy explains:
“Learning the logistics side has been really useful.
It gives you a much better understanding of what customers need from us, especially when a job is already live. You can see how important the communication is between the customer, the office and the driver, and how quickly things need to happen.
That experience will definitely help me in my role, because it means I’m not just looking at things from a customer service point of view. I’m also seeing the operational side and how everything connects.”
Kristy’s appointment is also an important personal step, as this is her first role after maternity leave.
Returning to work after starting a family can be a big transition, but Kristy sees the role as a fresh challenge and an opportunity to apply her experience in a new industry:
“It’s been a big change, but a really positive one.
Coming back to work after maternity leave, I wanted a role where I could challenge myself, use the experience I’ve built up, and be part of a growing business where I could make a real contribution.”
Maintaining excellent standards while we grow
Managing Director Jamie Boyd welcomed Kristy’s appointment and explained why the role is such an important addition to the business:
“As Today Team continues to grow, we have to make sure our standards can also grow and be maintained along the journey.
We’ve always been very proud of the relationships we build with our customers. A lot of our work comes down to trust, communication and understanding what each client needs when timing really matters.
Bringing Kristy in as Client Relations Manager gives us more focus in that area. She brings excellent experience from a demanding service-led industry, and she understands the level of detail and care that customers expect.
Her role will be key in helping us gather feedback, strengthen relationships, tailor our service where needed, and make sure customers continue to see Today Team as the best time critical logistics partner to work with.”
Everyone at Today Team wishes Kristy a warm welcome, and we’re excited to see the positive impact she’ll have as we continue to raise standards, strengthen customer relationships and support businesses with urgent, complex and time critical logistics requirements.
