Today Team Sponsors Warrington Wolves Scholarship Player
At Today Team, supporting local sport and investing in the next generation is something we genuinely care about. That’s why we’re proud to sponsor Lawson Vella, a Warrington Wolves Scholarship player, for the 2026 season.
The sponsorship forms part of the club’s recognised Player Development Pathway, delivered by the Warrington Wolves Community Foundation, which supports young players as they progress from grassroots rugby league into the professional environment.
A pathway rooted in community rugby league
The Warrington Wolves Player Development Pathway is designed to identify, develop and support talented young players at every stage of their journey. Delivered through the Community Foundation, it bridges the gap between community clubs and the professional game, focusing not only on performance, but also on personal development, education and wellbeing.
Lawson’s progression through the game reflects the strength of this pathway and the depth of rugby league talent in Warrington. Alongside Lawson’s involvement with the Wolves Scholarship, he also Captained Latchford Giants, demonstrating leadership and commitment at community level.
A personal connection for Today Team
This sponsorship is particularly meaningful for Today Team’s Managing Director, Jamie Boyd, whose own rugby league journey began locally.
Jamie is a former homegrown Warrington Wolves player, having joined them while playing for Crosfields ALRFC. His experience of junior rugby league and community clubs is why supporting structured development pathways remains important to him.
Last season, Jamie had the privilege of presenting the Today Team U14s trophy to Lawson at the Warrington Cup Final in 2025.
Investing in people, on and off the pitch
For Today Team, sponsorship is about people. The same values that matter in rugby league – teamwork, discipline, commitment and progression – are the same values we look to support within our business and the wider community.
Commenting on the sponsorship, Jamie said:
“It’s great to be involved and support Lawson as he progresses through the Warrington Wolves pathway. From what I’ve seen, he’s got a bright future ahead of him. Grassroots and junior rugby league played a huge part in my own journey, so supporting that pathway is something I really believe in.”
Looking ahead to the 2026 season
We’d like to thank the Warrington Wolves Community Foundation for the opportunity to support the Scholarship and Player Development Pathway, and we look forward to attending matches and events throughout the 2026 season.
Everyone at Today Team wishes Lawson, his teammates and the wider Scholarship programme every success in the year ahead.
