Rescuing A Valuable Motoring Book Collection
Recently we were tasked with tackling a literary load of valuable books, collecting them from South Wales and delivering them to Altrincham in Greater Manchester.
As ever, we are here to tackle any logistics challenge, big or small; and while the initial task seemed routine, it developed into something needing greater thought and care from our team.
Due to the value of the items, they had to be carefully packed.
The client, Classic Motoring Books, sells specialist motoring literature across the world. Taken from collections gathered over many decades, these books are each high value items needing the utmost attention and care to preserve their quality.
Because of this, personally moving many at once can be difficult, especially at short notice, due to the insurance needed on vehicle rentals. Their initial challenge was transporting a newly acquired collection from a cottage in South Wales to Altrincham. After getting in touch with our team at HQ, we were more than happy to assist, with one of our very capable drivers heading to the collection point.
The added test unfolded during the collection, when it became clear that due to the protection needed for the book collection, and the weight involved due to the sheer number of boxes of books (almost 2 metric tonnes), a second vehicle would be required to complete the job.
The scale of the book load amounted to almost 2 metric tonnes.
Thankfully, we love to rise to the challenge with last minute changes and were able to send a second driver to help collect the remaining boxes of books and take them safely and swiftly to their destination in Altrincham.
