Meet The Team – Tom Hardman

Hot on the heels of Scott, we sat down with Tom H., our Logistics Controller, to get to know him a bit better. Tom joined us earlier this year from a same day competitor, having racked up 6 years of experience in the trade.

We asked Tom the customary questions, so we can find out more about his role, what he enjoys about working for Today Team and the skills he uses on a daily basis. It’s not all about same day logistics though, as we learn a bit more about our team and what they enjoy outside of work.

What does your role at Today Team involve?

My role involves the daily planning and management of drivers.

 

What do you enjoy most about working at Today Team?

I enjoy how all the workforce gets together every day for a short briefing so everything can be communicated effectively and openly.

 

What’s the most important skill for someone in your role?

You need to have good reactions and attention to detail to face the day to day challenges in a service driven same day transport office.

 

What do you think sets Today Team apart from other courier services?

I believe the focus on customer satisfaction and teamwork is what sets Today Team apart, having worked at another company for 6 years in the same sector I can attest to this.

 

What’s the best piece of advice you’ve received in your career?

To set goals and believe in yourself.

 

What’s your go-to karaoke song?

Not one for karaoke, but I am partial to most music from the 90’s.

 

How would you describe yourself in 3 words?

Honest, hardworking, focused.

 

What’s your favourite way to spend a day off?

I like to relax and spend time with family, occasionally play guitar and golf in my spare time.

 

If you could have dinner with any celebrity (dead or alive), who would it be?

A kebab and pint with Liam Gallagher would be a fun one.

 

If you had to eat one meal for the rest of your life, what would it be?

Since my move over to Wigan recently I have come to appreciate a good Steak & Ale Pie with chips/mash.

 

Tom has made a positive start since joining the team, and his experience working both as a controller and co-ordinator has made him a versatile addition. He is all set to play an important part as we look to implement our growth strategy, achieving both his own and the company’s goals.

We’re also in complete agreement – a kebab and a pint with Liam Gallagher would certainly not be dull!
