Celebrating Today Team’s 20th Birthday

On Friday 16th May, Today Team celebrated 20 years in business. It’s a huge milestone and one that the whole team are proud of.

In recent blogs we’ve looked at what has changed in those 20 years as a same day courier, as well as what hasn’t. We’ve also taken a look through some of the strangest same day deliveries we’ve had to make during our time in business.

For the business’s birthday, it was very much a case of celebrating our wins and reflecting on what has gotten us this far. Not least the hard work of our Managing Director, Jamie Boyd, who started the business in 2005 with a leased van and 70 hours of hard graft every week. At the same time, it’s also important that we keep our eye on what’s next for the business.

Our Managing Director Jamie Boyd featured in a Warrington Guardian article.

For this reason, it was a great start to see the article above printed on page 4 of the Warrington Guardian, our local paper, and appearing online the day before.

As Jamie says in the article, “Twenty years is a massive milestone, but we’re only just getting started.”

Our ambitious plans for growth include investment into the management team, with recruitment for a Logistics Manager now complete, and a new General Manager and Sales Manager incoming.

And, following the acquisition of Speedy Courier Services in 2023, the business is still actively looking for further acquisitions, as well as investing heavily in marketing.

The press coverage continued from there, with our story being published on a number of other business news outlets, including Business Insider North West, Your World, and Business Cheshire.

We were extremely grateful for such positive coverage in the media and for all the messages of congratulations and support from friends and valued partners we’ve worked with over the years.

Birthday Treats for the Team

At Today Team HQ, the birthday started the right way, with a workplace massage from Jackie Cain, working on their back, neck and shoulders, releasing muscle aches and pains, as well as any stress.

The team members were treated to a workplace massage to start the day.

That set them up perfectly for the working day, and going into the weekend, where they were treated to a private dining experience at The Treasury, Warrington.

It was fantastic to reward the team for all their hard work in ensuring we keep up our high standards of service, and to celebrate the 20 year anniversary in style.

As part of the anniversary story, Jamie reflected on the sacrifices that have been made while building the business over the last 20 years, and the challenges overcome:

“Coming through the last recession and Covid taught me that resilience is everything.

Difficult times stretch you, but they also prepare you to cope better in the future.”

He also had some happy news to share, with him and his partner Kirsty expecting their first child this summer.

“Starting the business at 24 meant my personal life took a back seat for a while, but now, fatherhood is something I feel truly ready for.

Our son will be the most important delivery of the past 20 years.”
