We’re Hiring: Logistics Team Supervisor in Warrington

Today Team is recruiting an experienced Logistics Team Supervisor to help lead our busy, live logistics operation from our office near Culcheth in Warrington.

This is a hands-on role for someone who thrives on pace, enjoys solving problems and wants genuine responsibility within a growing logistics business.

Working alongside our Logistics Team Manager, you’ll help oversee the daily operation from initial customer enquiry or booking through to successful delivery. You’ll also deputise for the Logistics Team Manager when they’re out of the office.

Take ownership of a live logistics operation

This is a desk-based position within a busy logistics office.

On a typical day, the team may be handling incoming calls, preparing quotes, managing new bookings and monitoring live deliveries while responding to customers and giving direction to drivers. The situation can change quickly, so calm judgement and clear communication are essential.

As Logistics Team Supervisor, you’ll be a visible point of leadership for the office team and an escalation point when a job requires additional attention.

You’ll help maintain oversight of the entire process, making sure customers receive the answers they need, drivers have clear instructions and each delivery is followed through to completion.

The role includes:

• Helping to run a busy same-day logistics office and an operation involving approximately 50–70 drivers each day.
• Supervising incoming calls, bookings, quotations and a busy shared inbox.
• Overseeing live orders from collection through to successful delivery.
• Balancing customer service, inbound sales and driver management.
• Planning and controlling capacity across our drivers and logistics partners.
• Supporting the recruitment and onboarding of our local courier fleet.
• Making confident operational decisions, sometimes with limited information.
• Handling customer or delivery escalations calmly and professionally.
• Supervising customer-facing and driver-facing members of the logistics office team.
• Taking responsibility for service quality, operational KPIs and client satisfaction.

Although the operation mainly involves van deliveries, the team also manages some HGV work.

Would you suit this role?

We’re looking for someone who understands the realities of a fast-moving B2B logistics, courier or time-critical operation.

You may already supervise a transport or logistics office and feel ready for greater ownership. You’ll be comfortable working close to customers, drivers, telephones and live orders, with the ability to support colleagues while remaining accountable for the outcome.

This isn’t a warehouse management, fleet compliance or purely strategic position. Candidates whose experience is mainly in those areas may find that the day-to-day focus of the role is different from what they’re looking for.

The position is designed to be the number two role within our logistics operation, with significant scope to develop as Today Team continues to grow.

• A proven background in a fast-paced B2B logistics, courier or time-critical environment.
• Supervising a logistics or operations office.
• Managing relationships with clients and drivers.
• Making calm, decisive judgements under pressure.

• Communicating clearly with different people across a live operation.

Experience within an owner-managed SME, using transport management or dispatch systems, and managing subcontracted drivers would be advantageous.

The package – salary, hours and benefits

The position offers:

• •A salary of around £35,000, dependent on experience, plus benefits.
• A 40-hour working week.
• Office start times of 7.30am, 8.00am or 8.30am within operating hours of 7.30am–5.30pm, Monday to Friday.
• A £200 allowance for each on-call rota week, worth approximately £2,000 per year in addition to the base salary.
• An on-call rota of approximately one week in four, completed from home using a company laptop and mobile phone.
• Rotas planned between three and six months in advance.
• Monthly and quarterly awards, with up to £1,800 per year available.
• 30 days’ holiday, including bank holidays.
