Introducing Today Team’s New General Manager

,

It’s time to wish a warm welcome to the newest member of Today Team, Lee Dooley, who joins us as General Manager.

Lee has more than 12 years of experience in logistics and warehouse management, including time with Asda, John Lewis Partnership and most recently, EuroWrap. Prior to that, Lee served in the military as an infantryman, with time spent in Northern Ireland, Germany, and Iraq, where he completed 2 tours.

Arriving with us from another ambitious family run business, Lee explains his reasons for joining Today Team:

“I felt that I’d reached the point where I was ready for a fresh start and a new challenge, so I started checking what was out there, and after seeing the opportunity to join Today Team, I didn’t hesitate. It’s a really good fit for me in terms of the size and culture of the business, its plans for growth, and the opportunity to help develop a growing team over a longer period of time.”

It has been a busy start for Lee, as he has been straight into learning new systems and processes, as well as getting to know the staff he’ll be managing on a daily basis;

“While the demands of time critical logistics aren’t too different from my previous roles, as Today Team is also a very customer-driven business, the biggest challenges initially are in learning new systems, including software packages, and getting used to different operational processes to manage the business day-to-day.

Having such a friendly environment, strong work culture and close-knit team here has helped me to settle in really quickly, and I’ve already been able to see a lot of different areas of the business through a really well organised induction and training schedule.
I’m also looking forward to developing personally, building on my leadership skills, and helping the rest of the team to grow too, both professionally and as people.”

Previously from Ashton-in-Makerfield, Lee now lives in Ormskirk, where his own long-term ambitions are to buy some land and establish a smallholding with his partner. Outside of work, he’s a keen follower of sports, including football, golf and cricket.

Today Team’s Managing Director, Jamie Boyd, explains the importance of recruiting a new General Manager;

“Getting Lee on-board is crucial to our plans for the coming months and years. I’ve recently had to step back in to the day-to-day of running the business, which was necessary at the time, but recruiting Lee means I can now shift some focus back to implementing our longer-term strategy of continued growth and success for the business.

This includes the launch of new services, the ongoing strengthening and training of all departments in the business, and the potential to look at all our options for growth, including further acquisitions.

Lee will help us to maintain the level of commitment and service our clients have come to expect. I’m looking forward to building a close working relationship with him and seeing our team develop under his supervision.”
