Meet The Team – Martin

,

It’s time for the next Today Team colleague to step into the spotlight and tell us a bit about themselves. Our interviewee this week is Martin, Logistics Team Supervisor.

He’s a key part in making sure everything is organised, something that’s essential in logistics generally, never mind in the fast-paced world of same day deliveries!

Aside from being super-organised, we’ve found out a bit more about what makes Martin tick, and how he likes to spend time outside of work.

Name: Martin Finnerty

Role: Logistics Team Supervisor

What does your role at Today Team involve? – I am supervisor of the Logistics Team – I oversee the daily running of the department, ensuring everything hopefully runs as smoothly as possible for our customers.

What do you enjoy most about working at Today Team? – The environment is fast paced and there is a great team ethic here, that everyone works together towards the values of the company. There are also opportunities made available to you which allow you to develop and progress.

What’s the most important skill for someone in your role? – Organisation – this helps in every aspect of the role. If you’re organised, you’re prepared!

What do you think sets Today Team apart from other courier services? – That we do what we promise and offer a better service and customer care than the competition!

What’s the best piece of advice you’ve received in your career? – You are in control of your destiny.

What’s your go-to karaoke song? – The Mavericks – Dance the Night Away (I have no idea why!).

How would you describe yourself in 3 words? – Organised, Dedicated, Composed.

What’s your favourite way to spend a day off? – I have an 18-month-old daughter so weekends are based around her – we, of course, usually all end up in a soft play of some sort. Watching a bit of the football on the TV when possible is also a nice bit of downtime.

If you could have dinner with any celebrity (dead or alive), who would it be? – Alex Ferguson – I’m a big Manchester United fan, and what a leader and person he was!

If you had to eat one meal for the rest of your life, what would it be? – Chicken Fajitas is always a personal favourite.

It’s good to get to know Martin better. A busy role and an 18-month-old will certainly keep him on his toes. Here’s hoping Man United give him a bit more to cheer about for the remainder of the season!
